Bob Casey’s poor record will help Mr. Smith go to Washington, Part I

by Brian Kelly on October 9, 2012   Part Two here.

Arlen Specter did more for Pennsylvania during Bob Casey’s term than Bob Casey. Specter is no longer in the US Senate but at least he went down swinging. While officially still listed as a US Senator, Casey has been MIA or fighting on the side of the enemy on important matters for Pennsylvania and America. This must end. It is vitally important to undo the economy-destroying regulations of Barack Obama. We cannot count on Casey to help US because he mistakenly thinks all is well. We elect Senators one at a time and Bob Casey Jr. is up for election again. Many in my part of the state, which is also Casey’s part of the state, see the Senator as being a real dud, and more of an embarrassment than a help to Pennsylvanians. Senator Robert P. Casey Jr. has never held a real job in the private sector. His biggest failing as a politician is that he does not like the job of representing the people. In the spirit of Jimmy Stewart in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington, the chances get better each day that Tom Smith, a self made man of the people, will get the people’s nod to help clean out Washington.

America First Personal Income Tax Plan

by Brian Kelly on May 9, 2012

The personal tax rates in our current 75,000 page tax system must be reduced while we develop a permanent new personal tax structure that is designed for America first and not for tax lobbyists. It should be no more than 50 pages that are readable by all Americans. Many Americans are aware that the last comprehensive tax reform, the Tax Reform Act of 1986, was signed into law by President Ronald Reagan on October 20, 1986.  At the time, this Act was a complete revision of the federal tax code, and as such it continues to stand as a significant achievement.  Reagan’s goals were the right ones: fairness, simplicity, and economic efficiency. At the time, he accomplished them but over time, the code has gotten perverted again. At 75,000 pages, it is actually incomprehensible. It is time again for a big do-over with fairness, simplicity, and economic efficiency again being the guiding spirit.

Asthmatic Children: Pawns in Obama’s Reelection Campaign

by Brian Kelly on March 23, 2012

Is Obama or the EPA anti-asthmatic? One would think from their recent braggadocio that they are asthmatic children’s best friends. But then that nasty enemy of the state, the truth, just like Mighty Mouse, often comes in to save the day. This is one such story. No wonder Obama and his minions hate the truth.

On March 6, the Obama Administration began a seven figure advertising buy. The ad is very touching but it is also very disingenuous. It goes like this:

Morgan Stanley Is High On Chinese Rail!

by Brian Kelly on April 3, 2012 · 0 comments

Morgan Stanley is in fact very high on Chinese Rail. No thank you. I am not suggesting Morgan Stanley is talking about rail fumes. The Morgan Stanley team is simply impressive. They are into knowing what is hot and what is not. I would trade the whole US Congress for the Morgan Stanley team of Analysts and Managers in a heartbeat. Then maybe the USA could be successful again.   The Penn Central Transportation Company and Erie Lackawanna Railway were once successful but they did not manage their respective companies well. They couldn’t make it and eventually their businesses failed. So, they became part of the government-run ConRail system before it actually began to make a profit and was quickly sold by the US Government.

Stop Government Lies! Obama has perfected the lie as the most powerful political tool for assuring power! (Part I)

by Brian Kelly on July 17, 2012 · Part 1 of 2. View Part 2.

The White House is preparing to release new facts on the Bin Laden raid just in time for the November elections. It turns out the official account will change. Obama and Biden were not in the WH situation room as originally reported that evening as the Armed Services had charted both men for far more active hero-level roles. The reason Obama is taking credit for the kill is because he is more than due the full credit. “Obama himself, our President, a top-rated Navy Seal from Teams Harvard and Occidental, and a lesser known expert in document obfuscation, communication camouflage, cloaking, and shrouding, secretly took place in the actual raid with full Navy gear! While masked as a Navy Seal, the President skillfully took down terrorist mastermind, Osama Bin Laden using his personal Heckler & Koch HK416 assault rifle.” Other leaks show:

Stop Government Lies! Obama has perfected the lie as the most powerful political tool for assuring power! (Part II)

by Brian Kelly on July 19, 2012 · Part 2 of 2. View Part 1.

You cannot really know how well the war is going or how well the economy is really doing if the people you think tell you the truth are lying through their teeth. It really does not matter if they are lying on their own or they are being told by their supervisors that they must report lies. Why should we pay any of these people to report lies to us? Despite the lack of trust in government that hearing lies engenders, big government and big government supporters seem to have an inherent inability to tell the truth. That means, when they speak, there are a lot of lies followed by more lies. Progressives seem to think lying is their best tool by which they can dupe Americans, since most of us have a penchant to believe what we hear. It is tough for regular people to believe that government lies intentionally. But, it does! Whether it is for official government business or to make points on the campaign trail, a lie is a lie and all lies are dangerous. Sometimes we get half-truths from government. These are merely forms of deceit intended to confuse. The liar thinks that the rounding-up will always be in their favor. When Americans call their bluff, and try to place checks and balances on the lies, our “honest” elected officials bring progressive spinners out of the woodwork to tell us how the world will cease to function if we choose to ignore their lies.

Let’s reduce government’s redistribution of income and wealth. Charity begins at home!

by Brian Kelly on July 24, 2012 ·

I have always deeply believed in the redistribution of wealth. The key element in my kind of redistribution is that it should be voluntary. If you’ve got it really good, then chances are you are willing to make life better for somebody else. Coercion is not needed. So, like many other conservatives, I heartily believe that if you too really believe in redistribution of wealth as a basic tenet of your life, then it is up to you to redistribute your wealth, not a third party. If, on a given day, you do not feel like you are doing so well, that too is OK, there is no compelling reason why anybody in the United States must choose to help another human being. All Americans who are doing well financially therefore have the option of keeping their gain or giving it away. Any person may simply give what they wish to those who need it with no government intervention. To be a kind, charitable person, government is not necessary. For those committed to help the downtrodden, you may consider also trying to persuade others to follow your example. Of course in this age of free choice, you should not ever force anyone to redistribute their wealth against their will, in the same way that none of us should force our morality on others. Considering all of the choices that anyone might make if they truly wanted to redistribute their wealth to others, using the government as an intermediary would naturally be the last choice.

Romney needs an America First / Americans First Strategy. No Pandering to Specific Ethnicities. (Part I)

by Brian Kelly on July 31, 2012 · View Part II.

Like many Americans—Democrats, Republicans, Conservatives, Libertarians, etc., I want America to last through my lifetime and the lifetimes of my family down through multiple generations. Why would anybody not feel that way? Unfortunately, I have been forced by reality to give up on President Obama taking me there. Our President wants to change America to something that has been destroying people across the world for decades. I do not want to go there. Until Obama came along, our nation was an America for Americans. His most recent executive order gives Hispanics and Latinos preferences above all other ethnicities in the US. But, there are not supposed to be special ethnicities in America—even the Irish. Pre-Obama America was, famously, a melting pot. Irish, Italian, French, Asian, African and all people entered and emerged American. In the end, Americans are not Irish, English, Hispanic, Polish, Latvian, or Latino. Most are proud to be called Americans. President Obama has proven he will do whatever he can to divide Americans into subgroups such as ethnicities to gain votes for reelection. In 2012, the President’s opponent, Mitt Romney is far more conservative than this President.

The mystery on the cliff: Whose fingerprints are on granny’s wheelchair?

by Brian Kelly on April 10, 2012 ·

Our country is steep in debt, going further in debt, and the government is digging the hole deeper each and every day. Additionally, this Administration is mortgaging our children’s and our grandchildren’s future with every dollar they print and spend. The most plentiful manufacturing jobs in America are now found in the assembly lines of Burger King, KFC, Mickey D’s, Taco Bell, and Abe’s Hot Dogs. Consequently, a reasonable and prudent person would conclude that any government Administration, wishing to survive, would be going out of its way to change its legacy and right the ship. But, not this one! Instead, positive spin is so important that our leadership comrades are claiming a victory for trumped up gains in multiple categories, such as unemployment / jobs. One is high and the other is overseas. The Administration playfully continues to blame George W. Bush for any negatives—OK, they are serious.

An Introduction to RRR: A unique plan for economic recovery and job creation.

by Brian Kelly on April 12, 2012

As a conservative Democrat, I have gotten accustomed to saying things my Party does not like to hear. Quite frankly, I don’t like what my Party says most of the time. I have begun to look to the GOP for the better ideas. Maybe one day Democrats will once again be the Party of the people instead of the Party of radicals so I keep my “D” registration and I try to help. So far, however, the Republicans are winning in my book. But the conservatives, as in the TEA Party are my favorite. My objective in this essay is to discuss a plan that I call RRR. It is a plan that I formulated to get beyond the rhetoric to identify and solve the problems with this sour economy. I think I have done it. The RRR plan is the best way to rescue our economy and create real jobs.

RRR: Reduce Corporate Taxes to 8 Per Cent

by Brian Kelly on April 17, 2012 ·

Many Democrats do not seem willing to admit that John F. Kennedy was a tax cutter. Kennedy was pro-American and so when taxes needed to be cut, he was ready to do so. In 1962, a favorite of All Democrats and many Republicans, President JFK favored tax reduction in a big way. Kennedy had a great way with words. Those of you old enough and those who are historians may remember these Kennedy words:  “In short, it is a paradoxical truth that … the soundest way to raise the revenues in the long run is to cut the rates now… And the reason is that only full employment can balance the budget, and tax reduction can pave the way to that employment. The purpose of cutting taxes now is not to incur a budget deficit, but to achieve the more prosperous, expanding economy which can bring a budget surplus.”

Buffet Rule: A Sure Loser for Republicans

by Brian Kelly on April 24, 2012 ·

Should the middle class pay a higher tax rate than the highest wage earners? Chew on that thought while we show you why the Republican stance on the Buffet Rule can cost conservatives the Presidency. Warren Buffett has been suggesting on a number of occasions that the wealthiest do not pay enough in taxes. One would think Buffet should know. In fact, Buffet said, “policymakers should stop coddling the super-rich.” Please don’t throw anything at me figuratively for saying this, but the only thing close to a good thing that Obama has proposed in over three years is the Buffet Rule, or at least something like the Buffet Rule. With a graduated income tax in place for years, nobody ever intended for those with the highest incomes to pay a lower percentage rate than members of the middle class. I surely hope that Republicans stop treating this as the end of business as we know it because it clearly is a powerful enough issue to cause Obama to prevail in November. Republicans do not seem to get it.

Student loan deadbeats should be sent to debtor’s prison?

by Brian Kelly on May 2, 2012 ·

If we can solve the Student Loan Crisis, it will go a long way to solving the Housing Crisis? Young and old borrowers alike are collectively a trillion dollars in debt from their public and private student loans. With the bad economy as a big part of the reason, more than 30% of student borrowers are defaulting on their loans. Over five million are already in default. They simply cannot make the minimum payments. It is so bad that more and more “older” former students with unpaid loans are now turning 62 years of age and they are finding the surprise of a lifetime waiting for them when they begin to claim their social security benefits. Their checks are being garnished by the government to pay off these old loans. My research discovered an 82 year old gentleman who as a Good Samaritan once guaranteed a friend’s loan. He is reported to be paying at least 25% of his social security check to pay off the loan. He is left with $750 per month, the minimum that cannot be garnished. Something is wrong in America. I have a solution that can help us all.

Comments on Capital Gains

by Brian Kelly on May 3, 2012

I have read the comments regarding my article on the Buffet Rule and I am disappointed that I did not make my points more clearly. I hope this comment helps in this regard.

First of all, I am not for big government and I am surely not anti-business or anti-rich. I am a regular conservative, though I am a Democrat. Other Democrats avoid me like the plague, and I am proud of it. I am for Americans first, rich or poor or in the middle.

I wrote a few books in the last year or so that show my conservative colors. These include Taxation Without Representation, Obama’s Seven Deadly Sins, Americans Need Not Apply, and several others including Kill the EPA. Please note that with this title, I did not suggest we merely chastise the EPA.

The End of French Champagne and French Pastry

by Brian Kelly on May 7, 2012 ·

The Headlines over the weekend included the fact that “Socialist Francois Hollande swept to victory in France’s presidential election on Sunday in a swing to the left at the heart of Europe that could start a pushback against German-led austerity.”

The Socialists have knocked out conservative Nicolas Sarkozi, who believes in hard work and the rewards of labor. How disgusting? Perhaps the French people have been listening to too many Obama speeches. They knocked Sarkozy out of the box and went the way of socialism. In the US, we would call it a victory for the progressives. The hope is that eventually nobody anywhere in the world will have to work.

Escape from America: Why our most prolific taxpayers are getting out of Dodge!

by Brian Kelly on May 11, 2012

Why are over 200,000 rich, former American residents, living in London? Why do they make the UK one of the largest American communities outside the US? The simple answer is because they can. Millions of American expatriates have created homes abroad to “Escape America.” We have always been fortunate in America that the high wage earners pay so much of our tax burden. Few of us take the time to thank the rich for taking the wrath of the IRS on a continuing basis. Even our President insults them regularly rather than thanks them. Many articles have been written showing that the top 1% earners pay about 40% of the taxes and there are 46% of Americans who now pay no taxes at all. So, from my point of view, a lot of people should be thanking a lot of other people, rather than complaining.

Are foreign tax deferrals and repatriation schemes anti-American?

by Brian Kelly on May 15, 2012

As a former IBM Senior Systems Engineer, a long time Information Technology Consultant, a former college professor teaching Business Information Technology, and of course as a regular citizen just trying to get by, I have learned to respect government power. I do not particularly respect government itself or the specific office holders but I do respect the official offices and the US government’s awesome power. So, I admit that I have been befuddled by the government’s excuse as to why it does not choose to collect the taxes due on deferred foreign earnings of American corporations.
