January 23, 2014

Today, I received in the mail a hand written letter, printed on a sheet from a yellow pad. It was an apparent response to a letter to the editor of the Times Leader, which I had written and which was published on January 15, 2014. The article title was "Progressives undermine our freedom."

The letter I received was  unsigned and the no-name coward wrote just one sentence in CAPS and closed the letter with an exclamation mark:

"ALL CONSERVATIVES SHOULD BE EUTHANIZED!"

In my letter to the editor, I did not suggest that any progressives be killed or harmed in any way in my letter to the editor; and so this angry response was surprising--especially since it was sent to me via US mail from a local resident. It is substantially more harsh than even NY Governor Cuomo's counsel to conservatives, even if we may be registered Democrats, that we are no longer welcome in New York State.

Of course we all realize that euthanasia is defined as the painless killing of a patient suffering from an incurable and painful disease or in an irreversible coma. The practice is illegal in most countries including the US.  I suspect the disease under discussion in the no-name coward's response was "conservatism."

I sent the note and the envelope to the police for examination as it seems that it could be a death threat. I would expect that the police will be able to get some DNA or finger prints from the material I sent and soon we will all know who the no-name coward actually is. Now that I am posting this note in November, 2014, I have heard nothing from the Wilkes-Barre Police and I expect to hear nothing.

Most civil people in America who disagree with a signed opinion expressed in a public forum would choose to respond in like manner with a signed counter-opinion. In the future, I sure hope that liberal progressive Marxists do not choose to threaten those with whom they disagree, but instead use the public forums such as those provided graciously by the Times Leader, to express their views; and that they have the guts to sign their names to their opinions.
