Katie Kelly, the author's daughter, winner of the inaugural Steamtown Music Awards for "Female Vocalist of the year," will be playing selections from her new album, Cigarettes and Whiskey, which she produced with her band, The Charming Beards. Brian asked me to tell everybody that there will be many at the event, who will also be celebrating Katie's 30th birthday.
At the Press Conference, Kelly will be announcing his intentions regarding a potential mayoral run. Like many in Wilkes-Barre, he wants to live in a safe city, an affordable city, and a clean city. Kelly thinks this should not be so hard if the city leaders choose to make these three items their priorities. And so for the last year, Mr. Kelly has been considering making a run for Mayor to help assure that his vision for a better Wilkes-Barre is achieved.
Kelly said: "As you might suspect, it is not such an easy task to make the decision to enter the realm of politics when most people, including myself, believe that most politicians are the very people who destroy good things; not improve them. So, I researched what it would take to accomplish all three of my goals for Wilkes-Barre. I have been studying the issues. I have been interviewing the masters. As a writer, I like to write; and so the current version of my work is now available at the web site that I will use if and when I make the decision to run for Mayor of Wilkes-Barre, PA. The site URL is www.briankellyformayor.com."
"Even if I make the decision to not run for Mayor, I will make the body of work on the website available to all of the candidates who may choose to compete to lead Wilkes-Barre for the next four years. Additionally, if I do chose to run, and my opponents like my platform, I give them full permission to use any or all of the material without attribution, as they like; to help the City."
Kelly wants all to know that they should feel free to attend his press conference at Keats' Pub as it is a public restaurant, and all of the Keats' family are very cordial and their libations and their food are both excellent, and nicely priced.
